Celebrating 4 Years of #Pinklemonadehope

on April 6, shortly after the COVID lockdown began the first #Pinklemonadehope prints went up in Denver's streets. The print featured my signature "pink lemonade" palette of yellow and magenta, with "hope" written in Herbert Bayer's iconic Universal font with a bayer blue border.

i posted a couple pics and asked Instagram readers  for high-visibility locations for installations.  The response was overwhelming and barely slowed down for the first two years.

Over thee four years since it I started, I've installed hundreds of large heart murals 6x6 feet or larger, and printed thousands of prints and stickers for community installations.  It has slowed considerably but The requests continue to come in

The experience of working with various individuals and organizations for these installations has been remarkable. I'm especially grateful for those navigating complex procedures to place these artworks in hospitals, schools, shelters, and public buildings.  Im so grateful to the companies and organizations who have funded this project.

With community support, of large Pink Lemonade Heart and Rainbow Heart murals have been installed across Colorado and in cities like New York, Chicago, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Miami, and London. The project's continuation is assured as long as the demand persists.

Operating on a not-for-profit, "pay-it-forward" basis, we offer prints and installations at no charge to public service organizations. Meanwhile, businesses and individuals can support through commissioning installations, helping extend our reach to more communities.

Thank you for your support.

4. How big are they?
Standard size is“6x6, we also do '3x3 “9x9, and “12x12  (custom sizes by request).

5. How do you put them up?
murals are installed with semi-permanent water and UV-resistant paste or with temporary water-soluble plant-based, biodegradable paste. They can be installed up to 12 feet from the ground. Higher locations require a lift.

6. Do They leave a mark?
semi-permanent installations bond to a wall like paint does.
Temporary installations On a non-porous surface shouldn’t leave a residue if properly removed.  On porous surfaces, there may be some color transfer and a paste residue that should eventually wash away. Prints will remove loose paint.  If a wet murals are exposed to rain or snow before it is 100% dry it will be damaged and the glue will leave a white residue. We will inspect the surface prior to the installation and assess the surface with you. ProjectSpreadHope and our team are not liable for any damage to your property from the installations.

7. How long do they last?
SEMI-PERMANENT Indoor installations last indefinitely (many years) aND CAN be CLEANED.  TEMPORARY INSTALLATIONS CAN also LAST MAY MANY YEARS, BUT CAN NOT BE CLEANED.

SEMI-PERMANENT Installation

OUTDOORMURAL LIFE DEPENDS ON SUN ORIENTATION OT THE WALL AND Hs are temporary and biodegradable. Outdoor longevity depends on the orientation of the piece and the weather. Full sun starts to burn the color out of prints after a few months and extreme weather can damage them quickly.  Indoor installations last indefinitely (as long as they stay dry).

8. What surfaces work best?

Prints can be installed on a variety of surfaces, including brick, wood, glass, stucco, and metal. The texture, stability, and cleanliness of the surface can negatively impact adhesion.  most painted surfaces work. The exception are surfaces that have a "graffiti-resistant" coating or paint.   most newer metal garage doors HAVE THIS COATING. our water-based paste doesn't work on these.

9. CAN YOU PUT ONE ON MY GARAGE DOOR

MAYBE. THEY ARE PROBLEMATIC. most newer DOORS HAVE A graffiti-resistant coating or paint THAT DOESNT WORK WITH OUR PASTE. SECOND, MOST GARAGE DOORS HAVE MULTIPLE PANELS THAT SPLIT WHEN THE DOOR OPENS WHICH MAKES FOR A MORE COMPLICATED INSTALL. if you have a high visibility GARAGE DOOR ON A MAIN STREET OR IN A HIGH FOOT TRAFFIC AREA, FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW AND WELL COME CHECK IT OUT.

10. How do you take them down?
They can be easily removed by soaking the surface with water and waiting 10 minutes.  Repeat, then peel it off in one piece and rinse the wall with water.

11. Can I get a permanent one?
Yes, “permanent” installations using a waterproof and UV resistant paste can be done by special arrangement   These last 3-5 years without maintenance.
